A customer contacted us to report that their RightFax Server would not start after being affected by Crowdstrike.
Upon checking the events log, we noticed that the licensing server was not starting, and the error message was completely meaningless - "Error in XML Document, hexadecimal blah blah blah…."
To keep the story short:
- Navigate to the ProgramData\RightFax\Settings\RFLicensing directory.
- Rename the LicensingServiceSettings.xml file to something else.
- Go to Services and start the RightFax licensing service.
- This will generate a new LicensingServiceSettings.xml file.
- Restart all the RightFax services.
