Changing the ACK timer can give TCP apps a big performance boost
We tracked down a real pain in the bum problem where we were seeing 200ms delays for no apparent reason. Then we adjusted the Windows ACK timer and bingo... massive performance increase.

What value did you adjust it to?
Change it to 1.. throughput on one of our apps went up 10X
