Hawthorn has shipped, but on very limited availability... Effectively, you have to ask IBM and be approved to get access to the code. One of my customers is running it and is on the verge of rolling it out as an option to all their employees. I've been very impressed by the functionality and performance, and whilst not every single Outlook feature is supported, I think IBM have done an amazing job on building the solution.
However, IBM seem to not want to advertise this. It was very low key at Connect, and there seems to almost be an embarrassment when they are asked about it on webcasts etc.
Personally, I simply do not get it at all, seeing this as a tremendous tool to a) stop organisations migrating away from Domino/XPages/other IBM products as a result of wanting to be rid of Notes, and b) to use it as a demonstration of their willingness to be open in terms of client and application choice. I wish that they'd properly get behind it as a solution and to tell all their customers and the market as a whole. Sadly, it appears that this won't be happening in the near future ;-(
Thanks for the Info Stuart. I will be pointing all our customers back to IBM requesting this. I agree with you... why wouldn't they make a song and dance about this. We could of saved a number of accounts over the last six months with this.
Hawthorn was the project name, the official product name is IBM Mail Support for Microsoft Outlook. It's gold, so customers get support by opening PMRs.

Stuart it's also a great tool to help people migrate away.

ReplyDeleteHi Carl, I think IBM Stealth Marketing is by far the best tool for this. It is working like a charm.
ReplyDeleteHi Stuart, do you know what features are supported and is your customer on the beta or gold?

ReplyDeleteFollowed your suggestion and opened a PMR for this. I'll let you know how far I get.
ReplyDeleteSo, I opened (and closed) a PMR for this. It is not so easy to get (I am a BP). They are indeed very reluctant on giving a copy of the tool... .
