Dear IBM, when you launch Notes.next remember it is all about the Apps!

Time and time and time again we see customers moving from Notes email to something else... but the Apps tend to remain. The Apps are the key to holding on to customers and maintenance revenue. I also think they are the key to new customers.

Please IBM, when you release the next version of Notes/Domino include up-to-date xPages versions of all templates. Include anything Sharepoint comes with, and maybe even throw in lite versions of everything that is in Connections.....

Anyone else think this is a good idea ?

I second the motion. It will help counter the argument of "look what you can have with Sharepoint right out of the box" . . .

I agree and if I would go further and ask that as Connections gains traction please learn the lessons from how the Notes user base withered away under the relentless focus on "Net New" at the cost of retaining existing customers.

Many templates already have a counterpart in IBM Connections.
Files, Blogs, Discussions, People. It is all there (and more).
So the best way to get updated templates would probably be buying licenses for Connections.

Hi Adam, excellent post. Are you aware that Teamstudio have developed a suite of templates for precisely this purpose?

Foggetaboutit.

IBM refuses to listen to this call for many years!

I doubt they have learned. Also include journal, to do, blog, ....

This really is an old drum to beat. I'm not sure why IBM can't throw tw0 developers at updating the existing templates for a month. What would that investment be, $16k @ $50/hr?

This topic never goes away, so obviously there's interest. I open the document library template, and it's like stepping into a time machine.
