Got more than 480 Domino Servers ?

I regularly work on a site that has over 480 Domino servers and it got me thinking, how many sites out there would have more ? Does yours?

NSFNOTECOPY breaks attachments

We are doing some work in extension manager addin, and for some reason NSFNOTECOPY periodically corrupts a message's attachments. We get a 'one or more of the source documents attachment are missing. Run fixup to delete the document in the source database'

Has anyone else seen this problem or got a suggestion ?

Performance and lack of roaming makes deployment difficult

There has been significant discussions on the Notes Client's performance in the Blog-o-sphere over the last couple of days.

Once the client is up and running it works fine on modern hardware. The new Notes 8 standard mail client (mail8.ntf) is on the slow side but I'm sure IBM is going to address this in 8.5.

Client startup times are a significant issue on older hardware, and I think it's going to be a major reason for people going with the basic client.

The other major show stopper is the lack of roaming (to be fixed in 8.5). Without it I know of no enterprise customers that could deploy the client in standard mode.

I guess we will have to wait until 8.5. Then we can let this baby out of the bag.

Virtual redbooks - I don't get it.

Really, I can't imagine how this is going to work. I just don't get it. I spoke with a good friend that has written a redbook and he agrees.

We both think it is a great model for red pieces but not for a book.

I hope I'm wrong. I guess I will only have to wait until May/June to find out.

How to halve your Notes bandwidth

Your milage my vary, but at one of our largest sites we installed our ZIP Attach button to their mail template and made a few other modifications. Bingo, the amount of email they delivered in a day dropped from over 40GB to around 20GB.

No bad for a simple set of changes.

Fantastic information on server.load

Fantastic information on server.load. Check it out.

Lotus Fusion

If you'd like to see Lotus Fusion come back, then I'd strongly suggest you attend the Lotusphere comes to you events in Australia and tell IBM management your desires.

Apparently they'd like to do it, so they just might need some friendly encouragement.

How do YOU roam the Notes clients ?

As we all know your mileage on Notes Client Roaming can vary. I'd like to know what other organisations are doing in the area.

Do you use Native Roaming ?
Do you use a network drive ?
Do you use some sort of copy the data directory to a file server and copy it back ?
What have you found that works, what doesn't ?
